Growing Popularity of EVs
Electric vehicles were first invented in the late 1800's, gaining popularity thanks to their ease of operation and comfortable ride. But because gas-powered vehicles were cheaper and could go further between fuel ups, they were more frequently found on the road.
The internal combustion engine reigned supreme for over 100 years, but modern drivers now appreciate the many benefits of electric vehicles – including the reduction of pollutants. As the public became more aware of the dangers of hydrocarbon fuel, manufacturers began shifting their focus back toward electric vehicles, working to develop vehicles that met modern drivers' needs.
According to the Edison Electric Institute, there are already more than a million EVs on American roads, a number that's expected to rise to 18 million by 2030. As EV owners continue to report back favorably, even those resistant to making the switch are giving EVs a try.
Reduced maintenance costs and access to the latest tech are also major selling points. In addition to zero tailpipe emissions, EVs offer features like LED headlights, wireless charging, sodium-ion batteries, turbo-charged EV engines, 360-degree cameras, and more.

Driving Experience
The new Chevy Equinox EV provides a ride that's not only electrified, but elevated as well. Equipped with a standard front-wheel-drive system, the Equinox generates a GM-estimated 213 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. A more powerful eAWD system is available for even zippier acceleration and performance, cranking out 288 horsepower and 346 lb-ft torque.
One-Pedal Driving comes standard, enabling the Equinox EV to speed up and slow to a full stop, using only the accelerator. Paired with regenerative braking, it efficiently converts the kinetic energy of the vehicle's forward momentum into electricity that is then stored in the battery pack to boost driving range.
Charging up is easier than ever with the standard 11.5 kW Level 2 (AC) charging system. Standard DC fast-charging capability of up to 150 kW adds about 70 miles of range in just 10 minutes!
