Man driving a car

Driver assistance features now come standard on many vehicles, with advancing technology dedicated to keeping families safe on the road. General Motors’ Super Cruise utilizes the latest hands-free innovation to allow drivers to travel hands-free on over 200,000 miles of designated roadways across the United States and Canada.

Drivers using Super Cruise, the industry’s first true hands-free tech, are still required to pay full attention while behind the wheel. In fact, an infrared vision driver attention system is in place to make sure that drivers keep their eyes on the road.

Equipped with Chevrolet Connected Services, Super Cruise uses the following to navigate – whether you’re making a quick commute to work or a road trip across varied terrain:

  • Real-time positioning cameras
  • Sensors
  • Google Maps
  • LIDAR map data
  • Adaptive cruise control

Super Cruise technology functions in tandem with Adaptive Cruise Control to control acceleration and braking – and to maintain a predetermined following gap time.

With trucks in mind, a new towing assist feature is in the works. Drivers can expect the following.

  • Max Trailering Package – When towing a boat, camper or other recreational vehicle, you can now engage the Super Cruise feature on the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado.
  • Automatic Lane Change – Updated technology will let you know when switching lanes is beneficial, and can even execute the lane change – while signaling properly, of course!
  • Enhanced Navigation Display – Your road trips just got simpler! Super Cruise compatible roads will now be indicated in navigation systems, displayed on the 10.2-inch touchscreen.
