Sports car enthusiasts, this one’s for you.

The 2026 Corvette ZR1X is Chevrolet’s most impressive engineering feat yet. This 1,250-horsepower masterpiece redefines what an American sports car can achieve. In fact, it takes this Corvette into hypercar territory.

The ZR1X is the first-ever ZR1 to feature hybrid technology and all-wheel drive, combining the power of its twin-turbocharged LT7 V8 with cutting-edge electric torque delivery via an innovative eAWD system.

This electrified Vette showcases purpose-built track capabilities and cutting-edge technologies that will fundamentally change how we think about what’s possible in an electric sports car.

Performance Redefined: Engine Specs and Powertrain Innovation

At the heart of the new Corvette ZR1’s performance is a boundary-pushing powertrain.

The ZR1X is equipped with a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged LT7 V8 engine, featuring a flat-plane crankshaft that delivers a high-revving, race-inspired character usually seen in exotic European cars. An electrified front axle is powered by a 186-horsepower electric motor, enabling true eAWD capability. This is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission that delivers ultra-fast, seamless gear changes.

We know what you’re wondering: what kind of horsepower are we talking about? Buckle up, because this powertrain delivers an unbelievable 1,250 horsepower. It’s the most powerful production Corvette ever built, and this horsepower places it firmly in hypercar territory.

There are even more impressive numbers, though. The ZR1X goes from 0-60 mph in under 2.0 seconds and tears through the quarter-mile in under 9.0 seconds.

Beyond straight-line speed, the eAWD system delivers instant torque to the front wheels, dramatically improving launch performance and providing superior all-weather grip that allows this Corvette to handle challenging road conditions. Massive carbon-ceramic brakes, the largest ever fitted to a Corvette, feature Alcon 10-piston front and 6-piston rear calipers that grip large 16.5-inch rotors, providing race-ready stopping power.

This combination of electrified propulsion, advanced materials, and precision engineering creates an American sports car that competes easily with the world’s most elite hypercars.

Supercharged Innovation: What Powers the 2025 Corvette ZR1X

The ZR1X’s electric all-wheel drive system delivers real-time torque vectoring, actively optimizing grip through corners with millisecond precision. This sophisticated eAWD setup intelligently manages torque and power delivery to each wheel based on road conditions, driver input, and vehicle dynamics, creating a level of control and responsiveness that transforms how the Corvette tackles corners and exits turns.

Enhanced battery control systems provide sustained high performance under demanding conditions, while the system provides more confidence in all-weather scenarios without compromising the ZR1X’s race-ready dynamics. This isn’t just about adding grip; it’s about creating a thinking drivetrain that adapts to your intentions in real-time.

The new Corvette ZR1X is equipped with exclusive drive modes that showcase the versatility of hybrid performance engineering:

  • Stealth Mode, which enables quiet, all-electric driving at speeds up to 45 mph for approximately 5 miles.
  • PTM Pro (Performance Traction Management) Mode offers customizable, track-tuned traction control with settings that can be fine-tuned for specific circuits or driving conditions.
  • Flying Start Mode, which seamlessly transitions from whisper-quiet EV operation to twin-turbo V8 power, provides uninterrupted acceleration without the lag or hesitation you typically have with hybrid powertrains.

You can keep tabs on performance with the advanced Performance App, which provides real-time displays of horsepower, torque, and drivetrain data.

Regenerative brake torque vectoring adds another layer of sophistication, using regenerative braking to help maintain vehicle balance under hard braking while recovering energy for the battery system. Integrated cooling systems ensure that engine, battery, and brake systems remain in peak condition during aggressive driving sessions, with thermal management that prevents heat soak and maintains consistent performance lap after lap.

The result is a car that’s as smart as it is fast.

Designed for Performance Inside and Out

Every surface of the ZR1X’s exterior serves a purpose, with aerodynamics and cooling taking precedence over aesthetics. For example, the functional flow-through hood isn’t just for show; it dramatically improves airflow while housing an integrated intercooler that keeps those twin turbos breathing cool, dense air.

Carbon-fiber wishbone bezels and strategically placed side inlets work together to direct crucial airflow to both engine and brake cooling systems, ensuring that all that power can be sustained lap after lap without heat soak. The smooth underbody and carefully sculpted underwing create a ground-effects system that increases downforce while improving overall aerodynamic efficiency, making the ZR1X a car that becomes even more planted the faster it goes.

The optional ZR1 Carbon Fiber Aero Package transforms the already aggressive ZR1X into a full-blown track weapon, delivering over 1,200 pounds of downforce—more than any Corvette in history. This comprehensive aerodynamic suite includes a towering high-wing carbon fiber spoiler, underbody strakes that manage airflow beneath the car, a hood lip gurney that fine-tunes front-end aerodynamics, and carbon dive planes that add aggressive visual drama while generating serious front downforce.

Carbon fiber isn’t just used sparingly as an accent material on the ZR1X—it’s a fundamental construction element that reduces weight while adding structural rigidity. The carbon fiber front splitter, rocker panels, rear window surround, roof panels, and side air intakes all come together to create a vehicle that’s both lighter and stronger than conventional materials would allow.

This extensive use of lightweight performance materials not only improves the power-to-weight ratio but also lowers the center of gravity and reduces unsprung weight, contributing to the ZR1X’s razor-sharp handling characteristics.

The result is a car where every visible element works together to create a vehicle that looks as serious about performance as it actually is.
