With gas prices soaring, fuel efficiency is now more important than ever. Spare yourself pain at the pump in the new Chevy Malibu! Most models come standard with a turbocharged 1.5-liter V4 engine, producing 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Premier trims upgrade to a turbocharged 2.0-liter V4 engine, achieving an impressive 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. (Note: Front-wheel drive is the only option. All-wheel drive is not available.)
Regardless of engine, when paired with a continuously variable transmission, the Malibu gets 29 mpg in the city, 36 mpg on the highway and 32 mpg combined.
