Performance
Both 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2017 Ford F-150 exhibit an excellent combination of power and ability. However, the Silverado possesses several distinct advantages that the F-150 cannot beat. 2017 Chevy Silverado is offered with a choice of three engines. The base engine is a 4.3-liter V6 that makes 285 hp and 305 pound-feet of torque, which makes it sufficient for most jobs including towing your recreational toys. Next in line is a 5.3-liter V8 that delivers 355 hp @5600 rpm and 383 lb-ft of torque @4100 rpm and pushes the Silverado to tow more than 11,500 pounds, if fully loaded. A 6.2-liter V8 sits atop the heap and offers 420 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. The V8 can haul up to 12,500 pounds. The new Chevy Silverado is equipped with three proved fuel-saving technologies - Direct Injection, Active Fuel Management, and Continuously Variable Valve Timing - to boost fuel efficiency. Most base V6 engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission while the larger V8 are paired to an eight-speed. All trucks are available in either rear or four-wheel drive modes.
Interior Design and Standard Equipment
2017 Chevy Silverado benefits from high-quality soft-touch materials, a sensible layout, and ample storage. All plastic surfaces are nicely textured to provide an upscale feel. There are three cab styles with passenger capacities varying from three to six. Among standard equipment are air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, and an AM/FM audio system with a 4.2-inch display and inputs for USB. Teen Driver safe-driving system, an SD card slot, and an auxiliary jack are also offered. It also includes Silverado's brighter LED lighting with projector-beam headlights. The Ford F-150's interior is not as plush as the Silverado's. You will also find that most equipment offered standard on the Silverado are considered optional upgrades on the F-150.
Safety
2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 is designed to be a fort. Silverado offers advanced safety features that are unmatched by most of its competitors. Safety equipment includes front, curtain and side airbags, stability control, and anti-lock brakes. Preventive measures include low-speed forward automatic braking, forward collision alert, lane keep assist, front and rear parking assist, and a safety alert driver seat. In the case of an accident, a high-strength steel safety cage surrounds the occupants, and a total of six airbags are deployed. Following an accident, the available OnStar Automatic Crash Response system alerts an OnStar Advisor to dispatch emergency assistance. Again the F-150 cannot compete. Yes, it may have some of these features, but most are unrefined and impractical.
